Library of Congress Photo Archives on Flickr
While catching up this morning on reading the posts at the KERA Arts + Culture Blog I discovered an entry describing how the Library of Congress has signed up for a Flickr account and is posting thousands of photos from its archives.
Most of the current photos that have been posted date from the 1910’s, 1930’s, and 1940’s. What I find the most interesting are the color photos from the World War II era. Here are some of the images I really enjoyed.

It’s impossible for me to pick a favorite among all of these wonderful photographs. I really love the one below. It makes me wonder… Who were they? Did he manage to survive the war? Did they marry and have kids? Are they still living? In a word – poignant.
